Emily McGuire is a Maltese-Australian artist from Brisbane (Quandamooka country), Australia and based in the Moreton Bay Region. Her practice demonstrates her critical interest in the political forces of consumer culture that shape our lived experiences. In particular, she explores the complex relationship between readymade objects, waste and female identity using fabric, thread and secondhand clothing. Emily acknowledges that her studio is located on unceded land of the Turrbal and Juggera peoples.
